Autocab - What Merchants & Installers Need to Know

Preparing for Autocab and Cabcharge integration

What's changing

With FAREWAYplus, you had multiple pieces of hardware in your vehicle: a Cabcharge payment terminal, meter, 4G modem and printer. The new Integrated solution simplifies this, leaving just two important devices:

  • Your Autocab dispatch tablet — which now also acts as your meter

  • Your new Cabcharge terminal — for integrated payment processing

Your Cabcharge hard meter is no longer required. The Autocab DC App calculates the fare, and at the end of each trip the fare is passed through to the Cabcharge terminal for payment. Your drivers continue using Autocab as they always have - the terminal simply handles the payment step at the end. Less hardware, less complexity.

How it works for drivers

At the end of a trip, the driver selects the card payment option from the DC App payment screen. The fare is passed to the Cabcharge terminal, the passenger pays and a receipt is generated

Device placement — important

Regulatory standards require that the meter is clearly visible to both the driver and the passenger at all times. The Autocab dispatch tablet must be positioned in the centre of the vehicle where passengers can clearly see fare calculations.

If your tablet is currently mounted to the right of the driver, this will need to be relocated before or during installation. Factor this into your preparation.

What to prepare before your installation

Whether you are self-installing or booking with an authorised Cabcharge installer, getting the following sorted before you begin will save significant time and reduce delays on the day.

1. Update your tablets operating system

Ensure your Autocab tablet is updated to the latest OS version before you begin. This reduces the chance of software conflicts during setup.

2. Confirm your DC App version

The integration reuires DC App version 3.5.11, build 2762. Check this in the DC App by opening the top-left menu and selecting settings. If the version is incorrect, restart the tablet.

3. Have your Dispatch Pairing ID ready

Each vehicle has a unique Pairing ID that links your Cabcharge terminal to the Autocab system. It is made up of your Autocab Company ID + Vehicle Callsign. You can find it listed in the vehicle profile under Vehicle Comment 4.

4. Check your driver profile set up

During setup, the tablet must be logged in using a driver profile PIN that includes both an ABN and TSS authority number (typically the same as driver ID/DA). Confirm this is in place before installation.
